Benefits of resistance training
Resistance training is the best way to have a stronger and more beautiful body.
What Is Resistance Training?
To work out the muscles correctly you need to start resistance training using weights, machines and your own body weight in lots of activities. This sort of training is beneficial in acheiving a healthy body and is sometimes known as weight or strength training.
Sportsmen and women who need to build up the physical strength of their bodies use this form of exercise regularly. Resistance training is not a muscle building exercise, it is an increase of strength and generally will not increase your size.
Resistance training is about toning the muscle to give your body a better look. It can be taken up by anyone and is even able to be enjoyed by older people. Recommended training programs for older participants include free standing weights resistance or moderate intensity seated machine training.
How Does Resistance Training Work?
Resistance training is the combination of exercise equipment such as the bench press, dumbbells or barbells. The muscles in your body are pushed against the weight of the exercise. The cells in your body adapt to the extra weight and this results in the increasing of the nerve cells to assist with the muscle contraction.
Always consult your doctor before undertaking resistance training especially if you have any pre-existing medical conditions or are overweight. You need to be physically fit already before you body is able to correctly take-in the weights. Resistance training needs to be undertaken knowing all the facts - how the equipment works and how your body works.
Using your own body weight can be an excellent form of resistance training without needing any equipment. Press-ups for example is a great way to work your muscles using your body weight. It's also a lot cheaper than joining a gym.
What Are the Benefits of Resistance Training?
1. Increase Bone Mineral Density
The bones in your body are constantly changing as the tissues breakdown as well as build up as you grow. The most amount of change takes place during puberty but as a person ages there are sometimes problems with the bone mineral density as the tissue breakdown and build up may not be as active. This is particularly relevant to post-menopausal women.
Hormones support the bone mineral density in our bodies. Exercise is a great way of addressing the problem of not having the hormones to maintain the bone mineral density.
2. Increase Strength
The more resistance training you undertake the stronger your bones and muscles will become.
3. Increase the Range of Activities
The more resistance training you undertake the more you will be able to push yourself and the more you will be capable of doing more strenuous activities. You will be less lethargic and will want to lead a more active lifestyle.
4. Reduce the Body Fat
Undesirable fats will be lost the more your body exercises and resists the weights you train with. The muscle tone of your body will improve and your body will be leaner.
5. Improve State of the Elders
Old age naturally brings risks to your health. If you partake in resistance training you will obviously improve your health and therefore some risks brought about by age. You can be more independent and won't need to rely on others to do your shopping etc! Being physically fit will also reduce the risk of injury.
6. Improve Heart Condition
The risk of heart disease is considerably reduced as a result of resistance training which lowers heart rate and blook pressure especially after exercise.
Resistance training shouldn't be taken lightly - it requires commitment and consistency. You should consult with a doctor or professional trainer who should devise a plan of recommended exercise to be carried out on a regular basis. Injury can be caused if exercises are not done correctly and the benefits of the program may not be obvious.
As your body strengthens you can move on to more challenging tasks but take your time. Make sure each exercise is completely correctly and do the program one step at a time. If you do your body will reap the benefits and look fantastic.
