Benefits of Cardio Interval Training

The US Public Health Service commissioned a long term study of the chances of people developing heart disease among groups of the population. Epidemiological research identified high risk groups long before any symptom appeared.

A family history of cardiovascular disorders was a high risk factor but the highest risk factor was among Men, aged over 35, smokers, high blood pressure and high levels of certain blood fats.

Research has also added compulsive, highly anxious personalities who drive themselves particular hard.

Two categories divide these threats to the heart. The first category is where it is beyond the individuals control - for example age, sex and the possibility of hereditary illness as well as those that can be controlled, avoided or even cured. The second category are what the experts call 'the triple threat' - they are high blood pressure, high cholesterol and cigarette smoking.

Your risk of having a heart attack increases by 50% if you smoke a pack of cigarettes a day. If you also have high blood pressure, eat unhealthily and include high fats without exercising regularly, your risk is 5 times greater than normal.

The Healthy Heart

We know what contributes to an unhealthy heart but what keeps your heart healthy and improves its longevity?

There are obvious things you can do - stop smoking and eat a low fat diet would be a great help. Another great step is to exercise regularly for complete cardio interval training.

Just as exercise improves and strengthens arms and leg muscles, the heart, built up of a group of muscles, exercise can enhance the health of your heart muscles.

Many statistical surveys have been completed since World War II comparing physical activity and cardiovascular disease. One particularly well known study compared 31,000 drivers and conductors of bus companies. Drivers who purely sat and drove, had a significantly higher rate of heart disease than the conductors who spent the journeys walking around and up and down the stairs of the buses.

Classic experiments have been carried out with dogs. Their coronary arteries were surgically narrowed to match humans with arteriosclerosis. Dogs who were exercised regularly had much better blood flow than those who were not.

Exercise was proven to stimulate the development of new connections between the damaged and the nearly normal blood vessels - the exercised dogs had a better blood supply to all the muscle tissue of the heart. The heart that was damaged by the heart attack reacts in the same way to provide blood to the portion that needed it.

The heart relies on new, tiny blood vessels to repair the damaged heart muscle which is called collateral circulation. These can prevent a heart attack if the new network of branches on the arterial trees can develop before a heart attack and if the new branches can take on enough of the function of the damaged vessels.

How can we prevent such problems as these?

Studies have shown that moderate exercise several times a week is more effective in creating these branches than vigorous exercise twice as many times.

Basically, exercise helps to reduce the risk of harm to the heart. Research has shown that people who do not exercise have a 49% greater risk of heart attack than those people who exercised on a regular basis. This particular survey showed that a third of that risk was due to a passive lifestyle alone.

You can expect positive results not only with your cardiovascular system but the general status of your health by following a cardio interval training program.

Cardio interval training is good for the heart and a program of intense repeated exercise is particularly effective. Here, you include periods of rest and can also be used with moderate exercise as well as intense.

As a result, purely exercising in this method can bring you positive results - more than you would expect.

1. The threat of a heart attack is lessened, if not eliminated

2. Enhanced heart task

3. Increase metabolism, increase the chance of burning calories, which will help you to lose weight

4. Improves lung capacity

5. Helps alleviate the cases of stress

Cardio interval training is the new way of creating a healthy, happy heart and body.
