The Wondrous Benefits of Soy Protein

A great alternative protein source for human consumption is soy protein. Soy protein is all the rage and health experts are wild about the benefits. Here are some fantastic reasons to switch to soy protein.

Soy Protein is Plant Protein

One of the best protein digestibility's among all protein sources are soy beans containing complete protein. Another great bonus is that soy beans virtually no fat and have very little cholesterol. Soy beans also contain no lactose a great plus for intolerance sufferers.

Since soy originates from plant protein, it is free from the steroids and antibiotics animal protein contains. The parasites that damage some of these products are not contained in plant proteins. Diseases which are possibly caught from meat sources such as foot and mouth and mad cow disease are not possible with soy protein.

Compared to it's animal equivalent, soy beans contain an equal, if not better source of protein and it's therefore loved by vegetarians. Since its from a natural source, it provides a protein that is easier to digest and is as good as most supplements.

Soy Beans are Very Versatile

Soy beans are extremely flexible. Asian recipes, along with many others identify the value of the simple soy bean. Vegetarians particularly love the meat substitutes made from soy including tofu, soy pudding as well as soya milk not to mention flavourings such as soy sauce and hoi sin sauce.

Soy beans have also been grown in an attempt to ease the problem of world hunger. Soy beans are extremely easy to grow and harvest and are happy to grow in many adverse growing conditions and do so very quickly. Some farmers have apparently planted soy bean plants in replacement of their complete crop. Soy plants are very strong plants which produce a bumper crop.

The Great Substitute

Soy can be used to substitute most protein sources as well as being low in fat. Soy substitutes can be used when cooking as a replacement for flour or just as a low fat alternative. Soy proteins are a great low fat alternative and an excellent assistant to losing weight.

It's such a good low fat alternative it is being considered by bodybuilders for its protein goodness. Its easily digestible and bodybuilders are at last able to eat well. Although its still in the investigative stage with bodybuilders, soy has already been proven to contribute to the general health of a person.

Its always recommended to use natural proteins rather than processed because processed foods tend to have risks attached. Soy protein's positive attributes fit into anyone's low fat, high protein diet.

Shakes and drinks can include soy protein products and lactose intolerant sufferers are able to have milkshakes since it is lactose free.

Phystosterol, saponins and isoflavones are also some of the nutrients included in soy products. Saponins assist in supporting a healthy immune system. Cholesterol combines with saponins to reduce the absorption of cholesterol in the body. Phytosterols also help with absorption of cholesterol as saponins do.

Powerful antioxidants such as isoflavones prevent the effect of free radicals in the body. They have been seen to assist in the prevention of cancer and can prevent some signs of aging. Soy is a sensational protein source in its own right.

Some of the front line fighters of cancer along with vitamins A, C and E as well as isoflavones also counter the effects of pollution and stress.

How Much is Too Much

Soy proteins are generally safe to consume in large amounts unlike many other protein sources. Allergies to soy products do exist but are few and far between. However, check with your doctor or nutritionist before changing to a soy diet. Ensure that the soy won't interfere with any prescription drugs you are currently taking.

Soy is a great source of protein that doesn't generally cause side effects unlike other sources. It is recommended to research how it could improve your diet.
